Camelia Smith pilot
Born in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Camelia grew up and continues to live in Northwest Arkansas. She and her husband Bill have combined their commercial aviation careers with cattle farming in Hindsville. Her first real travel experience out of Arkansas was as a “Hostess” for TWA which opened a new world. She never could have guessed that her aviation interests would lead to Air Charter, corporate flying, flight instructor, fire detection for the National Forest Service, and many wonderful friends. Flying the ARC in 2007, 2008, and 2009 has definitely been the high point in all her flying. She is flying ARC for the challenge of flying the perfect cross county, new destinations, the competition and sharing the camaraderie with others that love aviation.
Martha Molina co-
Born in Paragould, Arkansas, Martha grew up in Rector and shared her love of flying with her father who learned to fly late in life. She remembers saving quarters to buy a ride in a helicopter in the late 60’s and dreamed of learning to fly for the following 35 years. Encouraged by her father she soloed shortly after his death in 2003. She and her husband Noli moved to Fayetteville 17 years ago. Martha has been working in education for over 20 years and currently teaches art at St. Joseph Catholic School. She has been on the Arkansas Arts Council AIE artist roster for the past 10 years and is active in the Fayetteville Underground’s E. Street Gallery, Boston Mountain Potters Association, and Arts Live Theatre. She is flying ARC as a tribute to her father and to encourage her students to follow their dreams even if it takes them 40 years.
